• What is a direct object (DO)?
– It is the word in a sentence that receives the
action of the verb.
– Example: I bought the tickets.
– Hint: say to yourself “who?” or “what?” after the
verb.

– It is a word that replaces the DO when it’s already
been mentioned
– Example: I bought them.

• I wore the sunglasses.

• David took the chair lift.
