What is the basic format then for a present
progressive sentence? What do you need
to do?

In Spanish you can express what is
happening right now in 2 ways:
› I am running.
 Regular present tense: Yo corro.
 Present Progressive: Yo estoy corriendo.
Spanish speakers would use the regular
present tense much more than the Present
Progressive.
 Present progressive is only used for what is
happening RIGHT NOW – tends to be used
more as emphasis.


