What is “Gustar”??

The Verb GUSTAR
Gustar means “to be pleasing to”.
In English, we say “to like (something)”.
Gustar doesn’t work like other verbs in Spanish.

An infinitive verb is a verb that
is NOT conjugated
It ends in –ar, -er, or –ir

to say a gustar phrase in
English.
Gustar with Infinitives

I like to run.
The Spanish equivalent is…
To me it is pleasing to run.

To him it is pleasing to talk.

in Spanish.
Gustar with Infinitives
Use the singular form "gusta”, when
followed by an infinitive
I like to eat.
(To me it is pleasing to eat grapes.)
A mí, me gusta comer.
You don’t like to drink milk.
(To you it is not pleasing to drink milk.)
A ti, no te gusta beber la leche.
