Reflexive verbs
 A verb is reflexive when the subject (the
performer of the action) and the object
(the receiver of that action) are the same.
 When a verb is not reflexive, the subject
and the object are different.
 Él lava los platos
 Él se lava las manos
 Not reflexive: different
subject and object
 Reflexive: same
subject and object
(He washes his own
hands.)
Reflexive verbs consist of the
verb and a reflexive pronoun
that goes before the verb. The
verb is conjugated like normal.
 Yo= levanto Nosotros = levantamos
 Tú= levantas
 Él =
 Ella= levanta
 Ud.=
Ellos =
Ellas =
Uds. =
levantan
These are the reflexive
pronouns:
 Yo= me
 Tú= te
Nosotros = nos
 Él =
 Ella= se
 Ud.=
Ellos =
Ellas =
Uds. =

A regular –ar reflexive verb’s
conjugation looks like this
 Yo= me levanto Nosotros = nos levantamos
 Tú= te levantas
