With the Key Stage 2 Primary Languages entitlement now just

and planning for long term sustainability, and secondary MFL
departments are considering the implications for transition. The
European Day of languages is a perfect opportunity to
celebrate best practice in Hertfordshire with a festival of
languages designed to inspire and motivate all who attend
through workshops, resources and live lessons.
Features of the day:
•
A keynote speech from Lucy Adamson, Primary Language Teaching Adviser with CILT,
The National Centre for Languages
•
Live lessons in the afternoon showcasing good practice across the age ranges
•
Workshops on a range of themes to include: practical ideas for integrating languages
into PE and mathematics; parachute and playground games; language tasters; transition
issues
•
Delegates will be presented with a resource pack including a CD
•
The day will end with some short performances by pupils across the age ranges
•
Stands for publishers and other sources of information and resources will be accessible
throughout the morning
The festival is aimed at primary and secondary staff with an interest in the development of
Primary Languages with a particular focus on progression and transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3.
The festival is being subsidised by the Primary National Strategy with a small charge of £35 per delegate.
