– Comparison of your choice of two extracts from our set
texts, based on the theme of War.
– A piece of creative writing inspired by your reading of
these texts.

• Whilst watching the following clip from
Saving Private Ryan, consider:
– What is the soldiers’ perspective on war?
– What do you think Stephen Spielberg might
be trying to suggest about a soldier's
perspective on war?
Challenge: Is there more than one perspective of
war?

Over to you
• Flick through the resources pack and choose one
of the text pairings.
• Spend 5 minutes reading through these
independently, considering how heroism is
presented.
Challenge: Can you find an extract which offers a
different perspective on heroism.
