What the Charities are Experiencing
it is becoming increasingly important that nonprofits are able to navigate these new waters
No small task for those organizations with limited staff and resources
current profile information; certification and/or registration is up-to-date
Hopefully, there will be common standards and requirements established across the
board to help alleviate duplication

What the Charities are Experiencing
We are still trying to figure out where these gifts are coming from
I found out that we had coded a check from [a vendor] for foundations – requiring us to reclass that check
we currently don’t have a plan to fully digest the information.

What the Charities are Experiencing
The complexity and variety of portals for workplace giving makes it a challenge to ensure that
all donors are properly thanked for their donations.
As a non-profit, we depend on our donors to survive, and we understand how important it is to
acknowledge each donor’s gift. We do our very best to ensure that everyone is thanked in a
timely manner, but it sure can be tricky in this changing workplace giving world!

Overhead: Friend or Foe?

The way we think about charity
is dead wrong

• The Overhead Myth
GuideStar, Charity Navigator, BBB Wise Giving Alliance collaboration
•
“In fact, many charities should spend more on overhead. Overhead costs include
important investments to improve their work: investments in training, planning,
evaluation and internal systems – as well as their efforts to raise money so they
can operate their programs. These expenses allow a charity to sustain itself.”

The Nonprofit Starvation Cycle
The reality is society focuses predominantly on overhead, starving charities of the
freedom they need to best serve the people and communities they are trying to help.

Group Discussion
• What would a collaborative solution mean for
your company?
• How it will work/not work for your programs?
• What might be some of the internal
roadblocks?
• Envision the future – totally new innovative
models.
• For vendors: How could this work? How can
you all work together to formulate
solutions?
