• The Present Tense is used to talk about activities
that happen,
are happening (but now right at the moment),
will happen tomorrow,
do happen,
or should happen.

The Present Progressive Tense is used to talk
about events that are in progress (happening right
now).
For example: I am singing (right now).

How do you conjugate in the Presente Progresivo?
You conjugate the verb ESTAR for the subject and
follow it with the present participle.
ESTAR conjugation + Present Participle (=ando/iendo)

How do you form the
present participle of a REG VERB?
The present participle of regular AR verbs:
Take the AR off of the infinitive and add -ANDO
Habl-ar  hablando (talking)
The present participle of regular ER/IR verbs:
Take the ER/IR off of the infinitive and add -IENDO
Com-er  Comiendo (eating)
Escrib-ir  Escribiendo (writing)
BEWARE of the IRREGULAR VERBS!
IR stem-changing verbs
will have a single vowel stem-change.
EXAMPLES:
DORMIR (ue)  DURMIENDO (sleeping)

EER / AER verbs need a YENDO
