• To develop co-operation between shop stewards in
companies operating on both sides of the Finnish Gulf
• To find out the best means of networking inside the
companies
• to support Estonian unions
 to increase membership in these enterprises
 to make collective agreements in these enterprises

 Networking over Finnish Gulf is very important and fruitful
 Networking over sector boarders is very important and
fruitful
 The seminar and its outputs were excellent and it is
brilliant that the unions supports the action plans, but the
fact is that we have to do the work in working places just
by ourselves, only we are responsible of it

What is happened after the seminar
 negotiations with employer of starting EWC-work has begun in
S-Group
 in Prisma they started negotiations to make agreement on
company level
- no result
- employer begun to pay better salaries
- the process is under construction..
 contacts between Finnish and Estonian shop stewards have
increased
 the shop steward of Ruukki, Pärnu has finally got his own
computer

What did we learn?
• The attitude of employer - speaking <> deeds
• The unions have had contacts even before, but this was the
first time when we managed to unite contacts and content
• The Estonians have a lot of trade union knowledge
• It is worth to base the training on experiences of the
participants; trade union activists have potential
• Restructuring is not a bi-lateral question between two
countries, but we all are part of the same process
• If we want to make influence to the worker’s conditions and
centralised decision making of an enterprise, the co-operation
of shop stewards is essential and almost the only tool
